Bookmarks
“Bookmarks” are like setting an alarm with a symbol. We mark a time in the future when it’s optimal for us to do a certain thing. We can choose a specific symbol for any number of situations. Here are three examples:
Example One
We want to be warned when we’re about to enter a stretch of highway that is heavily patrolled and ticketed. We set a Bookmark of “a red sports car zooming past us.” When this happens, we recognize it as a warning to slow down.
Example Two
We want to be informed when the most opportune time arrives to look for a new job and quit our present one. We choose a song that will play as our Bookmark, such as “Take This Job and Shove It.”2 When we hear this song, which isn’t played regularly, it will tell us that it’s time to keep our eyes open for job postings. Incidentally, Johnny Paycheck, who wrote that song, worked as a young man at a quicksilver (mercury) mine where my father was the superintendent.
Example Three
We want to be reminded when it’s time to buy a card for our nephew’s birthday or any relative whom we don’t see often. We set a Bookmark of seeing “three yellow balloons bunched together.”
Bookmarks are one of the many ways we can communicate with the Universe. Learning the seven-fold language of waking dreams can enhance the way we look at life as well as ourselves. Life is constantly speaking to us in its symbolic language. It only takes a little awareness on our part to make this a two-way dialogue!
