A “waking dream” is an experience (most of the time an unusual incident) which occurs in our outer, awake physical life. It is a message from Divine Spirit and the Inner Teacher. It may be an answer or suggestion or a warning. It usually has great physical, emotional, and spiritual significance.

The expansion of consciousness can only take place after one is put into new conditions of learning.

Each new experience, each new situation of life, widens the outlook of the student and brings about a subtle transformation within himself.                        —-Harold Klemp

As I sat down at my table in McDonald’s, I had the intent of researching four (Eckankar) books on the subject of “coping with life changes.” There are changes which I feel are prominently going on right now in my life, especially now as I just begin my last year in my 80’s. They are mainly with my health, my housing, and my car situation.

My order had come to the table before I had gotten back from washing my hands. True fast food! There was my grilled chicken patty, my cup of coffee, and the packet of plastic utensils. I opened the packet to find two knives and no fork.  I immediately knew this was a waking dream from the Holy Spirit with a message about coping with life changes or maybe just “changes.”

The usual packet contains a fork and a knife. Now there was a change to two knives. So I said to myself,  Here’s an example of change. Let’s see how I do with this little twist in life – and what it is telling me. So I used one knife to try to hold the patty and the other to cut it into bites.

The bites I cut off were all in different sizes as I had some difficulty holding the patty in place. A couple of bites were very small and a couple made me wonder “if I’d cut off more than I could chew?”

I couldn’t stab a bite as a could with a fork. I ended up having to use my fingers to bring the bites to my mouth.

So, as I see this message at the present time, in the physical world, it is that I need to use the tools I have right now available to accomplish whatever my goal may be. In a secondary-side message: “It may be a little messy or more difficult in this new alternate way, but in the end, the bite (or task) tasted the same  as usual, and the goal was accomplished.”

“New experiences will “or should“ cause a deeper understanding or realization of the human versus the spiritual condition.”

“A testing ground is laid out in Spirit that always leads to a heaven beyond the last one. This testing ground is like a minefield where is Soul ventures at great risk to its Self.” —-Harold Klemp

“A time occurs when we realize that our efforts at unfoldment are only personal. Besides the Inner Teacher and Divine Spirit, no one can help us up the ladder to God. Yet we enjoy our family and friends, for together, we learn the ways of Spirit.” —-Harold Klemp
