Guest Post by Gloria Lionz
I asked Jodi, a new friend, to take Apollo to the cat sitter’s office the morning I left for an Eckankar seminar in Minnesota recently. She was nervous about the task but sincerely wanted to help. My flight left earlier than they open. And he prefers spending more time here than there anytime.
So, Jodi agreed to load Apollo into his carrier mid-morning & take him to “Tiny’s.” Easy peasy except for one thing: She’s brand new to cats.
Sharon Sheppard, a dear friend & animal communicator, works with me and Apollo whenever I’m stuck with something he’s going thru. Our conversations are always helpful.
Jodi was new to the HU also. But she had clear instructions on how best to move Apollo from the floor to his carrier. The task included playing the HU App after I left that morning.
All went well between them initially.
Then before takeoff, I got a panicked call from Sharon. Apollo had allowed Jodi to pick him up, play with him on the floor but the minute she tried to put him in his carrier, he bolted, scratched her and ran under the bed. What to do?
Uh oh. Sharon & I had a talk with Apollo. He was upset with me. I’d left him with a total novice. How could I?!? What was I thinking?!?
We listened then took turns explaining the situation.
We asked him to ‘try’ to work things out.
We explained he had to choose. It was up to HIM to cooperate.
We needed him to try to see her as a friend. And to forgive Jodi for being nervous…she was doing her best.
I hung up leaving him in the hands of Divine Spirit, Jodi, and Sharon.
Five hours later, I landed. While standing at the curb waiting for a cab, Jodi sent an ecstatic text:
While in tears on the floor for failing Apollo and hurting from her first-ever scratch, she continued singing HU. About five minutes later, out walked Apollo.
When he walked to her, he looked straight into her eyes.
Jody said:
“I FELT MORE LOVE THAN I’VE EVER FELT. IT JUST POURED INTO ME. I COULDN’T STOP CRYING. I FEEL COMPLETELY DIFFERENT—REALLY LOVED FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER JUST FOR BEING ME.”
Then he stepped into her lap, let her pick him up and put him in his carrier. The trip to Tiny’s went smoothly. She was relieved. He was safe and sound.
And what did Apollo say thru Sharon?
“I’m sorry mom.
I was sure the problem was ALL ABOUT ME.
Then I remembered, it’s NEVER ABOUT ME.
It’s always about love—
So I sent JODI all my love.
I told her I WAS SORRY for hurting her and running away.
I’m SUPPOSED TO GIVE LOVE. That’s my job!”
WOW! “Life is never about me—it’s all about love.”
How’s that for one super transformative, heart centered cat tale?!?
Update: Apollo now ADORES Jodi; he calls her Tia (aka Aunt). He runs and greets her every time she visits. She may become volunteer at the local cat shelter, too. Maybe even a cat mama one day.
