Walk with an Open Heart (Story and Poem)

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Guest Post by Gloria Lionz

Intro:

In my early 30’s I left my first husband; began a new life. I also withdrew membership from my Christian path. It was clear a change was due. Members of my church conveyed my decision to divorce was ‘my responsibility’ as a “Good Christian wife could have helped her spouse heal from alcoholism and live faithfully.”

Patience and Cranberries

I was reminded in a recent contemplation to be more patient with Oi. Since English is her second language, I would need to give her more time to get her thoughts down on paper. My Inner Guide suggested, “Teach, don’t preach.”

At a local market later that day, I purchased a few groceries including some juice-sweetened cranberries for Oi. As we were unpacking the bags, she asked if I had noticed the company name on the cranberry package. I glanced down and smiled as I read it: “Patience Fruit & Company.”

A Waking Dream on Life Changes

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Guest Post by Jim Jackson

A “waking dream” is an experience (most of the time an unusual incident) which occurs in our outer, awake physical life. It is a message from Divine Spirit and the Inner Teacher. It may be an answer or suggestion or a warning. It usually has great physical, emotional, and spiritual significance.

Laughter in Her Veins

This tale began early 2022 when I started experiencing severe muscle fatigue and joint pain. Several specialists, tests, scans, and TIME later resulted in a single  “generic prognosis:  High inflammation since you’re getting old. Continue exercising and learn to live with the pain.”

What I remember most about my time in Hawaii in my late twenties was that first walk from my rented condo to Waikiki beach.

On to Alaska

from Seven Signs from the Universe

When Lin Buer received word that she’d been offered a Human Resources Manager position at a hotel/restaurant in Talkeetna, Alaska, she was living in Kansas with her husband, Bruce. Such a long move would take some planning as well as some inspired packing. But, finally, they were ready.

A Mountain Too High to Climb

“The only way out is through.” It was the answer from the Inner Teacher, who appeared in a vivid dream one night in response to my request for healing. I had poured out my heart to the Inner Teacher expressing what had been troubling me for several months prior to this powerful dream.

The chronic depression, challenges with relationships, and suffering from Bulimia that I had been experiencing for over a decade, had become overwhelming. Twice before, I had entertained suicidal thoughts. Reaching my limit, I wished to leave this earth forever.

Winds of Change

Reading Time: 3 minutes

By Michael Avery, featuring Dennis Ernst

from Seven Signs from the Universe, pp. 139-141, by Michael and Pichaya Avery

Dennis Ernst had been living in the little town of Ashland, Oregon, for eight years, but his dreams were showing him that a change was coming. Soon, he would be leaving the area. He enjoyed his work as an engineer in the small town amongst all the wonderful people who made up the artsy, tourist community. Dennis had learned that windows of opportunity are often brief, so he would need to pay attention if he was going to transition easily through this change.

Going Nowhere at an Idle

Reading Time: 4 minutes

By Michael Avery, featuring Catherine Ganci

From Seven Signs from the Universe
by Michael and Pichaya Avery, pp. 115-118

Catherine lived in a high-rise apartment in downtown Cleveland and owned a ’95 Mercury Grand Marquis. She rarely drove it, since many shops and attractions were within walking distance, some inside her own building. Catherine always placed her keys in a special place, all by themselves, in a bronze dish located in the entry.

One day, she was passing by the dish and happened to glance down. To her dismay, the keys were not in the dish. After searching each room in her apartment thoroughly, her heart sank.

Dream Big

Happy Friday night, August 1, 2025. If you live long enough, you have experiences that “speak volumes…” Case in point, I was driving to see a new practitioner in Portland. On my way there, I was wondering if working with her was going to be as successful as I hoped. Shortly, after inwardly asking that question I noticed an unusual sign painted on the back of a delivery van. It was far in the distance. As I drove other cars went in other directions, turned off the highway as everyone does. Eventually the van was right in front of me.
