“Show Me Love”

Reading Time: 3 minutes

By Pichaya Avery

One morning, I was guided to experiment with a spiritual exercise called “Show Me Love.”1 It is simply to ask God to show you truth, wisdom, understanding, or love. For a whole week, I had been struggling with a minor conflict with someone and contemplating on finding the best way to resolve the issue with greater spiritual awareness and grace.

I sang HU for a few minutes and asked the Inner Teacher inwardly to show me love. Then, I heard the Inner Teacher’s voice. “Go to the park, now.”

Small or large, dainty or “hefty” of stature

They’ve enrolled in a lifetime of service

Their “job interviews” occur only on the Soul plane

Despite never receiving a promotion or a review, they exceed every expectation or way of “being” humans may devise.

The Subversive Side of Gophers (Parable)

Recently, I was recalling how my mom used to cut the ends off the bacon when my brother and I were growing up. When I asked her about this, she replied that it was the way she’d always done it. It was how her own mother had done it when she was growing up. When we discovered the reason why my grandmother always cut the ends off the bacon, my mom and I had a good laugh. I wrote a parable one day to share the lesson we learned from the experience with others.

In this YouTube video (22 minutes long), a man named Shaman Oaks relates his extraordinary near death experience. During the experience, his spiritual guide taught him ten things to know about life. Here are eight of them listed in order of importance according to Shaman’s guide:

Carnival: A Message from a Memory

A memory often returns this time of year to remind me how one kind thought can change a life. Remarkably, the universe put me in a position where I was able to pay it forward many times over.

I remember standing in front of a carnival tent where rows of stuffed teddy bears were hanging from a wire above me. I was five years old at the time. In the center area of the square carnival tent, pop bottles were positioned side by side in wooden boxes.

How Are You Living Your Life Purpose?

Today, I read another story about researchers’ scientific efforts to cure or slow down Alzheimer’s. Many such articles catch my attention. It’s impressive how so many focus on this malady.

Loved ones rarely, if ever, have the capacity to understand their condition. It’s far too complex for anyone in their “right mind” to accept it without going through layers and layers of experiences words cannot encompass. Perhaps one day there will be ways to see then stop the brain’s ‘de-fragging.’

Gifts of Love

Last time, I quoted from my journal of 2021. Since then, I’ve rebounded back 10 more years to October 5, 2011 when I met Dale, a hospice patient.

I am thankful to God and Spirit for eternal life and the opportunity to experience all manner of ways to learn truth and gain wisdom; and to one day be a true co–worker with God.

“Your task is not to seek love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
Rumi

These barriers to which Rumi refers are numerous. Going through life unaware of these barriers is like driving an expensive sports car along a steep mountain road wearing blindfolds, not just one, but many.

Just Ask

As I was awakening one morning, still in the in-between state of not really being awake or asleep, I realized that my life has been an adventure in “experiencing”. There are more than a few teachers, gurus, and scientists who think that experiencing is consciousness. That’s a pretty interesting concept in itself. Yes, my life is about my experiences in this human state of consciousness.

All the time, I get these beautiful gifts of teaching people and animals about the sacred sound of HU, the powerful mantra that connects us with divine love and the heart of all life. I also remind my clients and their pets about the importance of HU.
