Bamboo & the Sound of Love

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Guest Post by Alea Kent

I am a Rumi fan, but have only read his shorter works, having never tackled one of his best known poems, “The Reed.” So I decided to write a poem as if I did know what The Reed was about and this is the result.

But what is interesting is that “Bamboo” was written years before our home burned in an urban wildfire. It is as if I was being given strength to understand what that experience was all about before it happened and know that I, too, would become the flute.

America & Life—I Love You

Reading Time: 8 minutes

Guest Post by Gloria Lionz

I seldom focus on our nation’s history, yet every citizen who lives here has lives that intertwine.

The ‘fact’ we didn’t “have” to go to war with England to eventually gain our freedom was the focus of my 2nd date with Wes, who became my future husband.

“ Don’t live the same year 88 times and call it a life.”  —Robin Sharma

Blessing: A divine favor, or something made holy (Webster’s 2nd Dictionary).

2019 was the ECK “Year of Blessings.” The year before, 2018, was the “Year of Giving.” One can recognize the continuity: in order to receive love, one must first give love.

Given to Love

Reading Time: < 1 minute

By Michael Avery

One day a priest stopped by the cabin of a prophet asking for donations. The money, he explained, would buy chairs for his church. The name of each donor was to be inscribed on a brass plate and then attached to the back of each chair in recognition of the giver.

Discovering “the Path:” Interpreting a Dream

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Guest Post by Jim Jackson

In a dream, we are on a family vacation in Hawaii. Early each morning, I walk to the store to get food and other supplies for the day. The first day we arrive, I learn a route to the store and follow it each morning.

The Day I Forgot to Breathe In God’s Love

Reading Time: 6 minutes

Guest Post by Linda Higgins

In the past, I didn’t always keep my attention on breathing in God’s Love and consciously living each moment in the Light and Sound of God. This story is about an intense waking dream experience that was given to me for my spiritual growth.

Ten years ago, my husband, Bill, and I went scuba diving off the shore of the island of Curaçao. During one of the dives, I got in trouble because I forgot to sing HU (an ancient name for God) and keep my attention focused on Divine Spirit and on God’s Love. I totally lost control of my mind!

“Telling-forth Dreams” and Ian’s New Life

When I chatted recently with Ian, the anniversary of a life-changing event had just passed. The course of his life shifted dramatically on the morning of September 11, 2014.

On the Summit of a Dream

When one has walked the spiritual path for as long as I and many others have, one learns that wherever you’ve been and where you stand now, all places are sacred ground. You accept your awaiting next step to be in your overall best interest, even if at times that “next step” involves the possibility of personal risk or injury. Such was the time I set out to summit Oregon’s 11,228 foot Mt. Hood.

Dreams are Real

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Guest Post by Dennis Ernst

Have you ever wondered how real dreams are, or how real they could be? I had been monitoring my dreams for two or three years and found my experiences to be fascinating. Interpreting dreams, lucid dreams, and waking dreams  had opened many new possibilities.

Some dreams felt more real than my waking life, and others so far removed they were a stretch of my imagination. Then came a dream that put a whole new perspective on dreaming and eliminated any doubt.
