Laughter in Her Veins

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Guest Post by Gloria Lionz

This tale began early 2022 when I started experiencing severe muscle fatigue and joint pain. Several specialists, tests, scans, and TIME later resulted in a single  “generic prognosis:  High inflammation since you’re getting old. Continue exercising and learn to live with the pain.”

Time passed. By early 2024, tremors made it nearly impossible for me to safely drive or get dressed the first couple of hours each day. Gradually my eyesight degraded. My acupuncturist, naturopath, and homeopath’s approaches barely touched the problem. In May, a friend suggested I visit her chiropractor. Though that modality sounded like an odd one to deal with mold toxicity, I made an appointment. Reviewing my case, she asked me why I was trembling as I untied my shoes. When I shared what I knew so far, her eyes lit up; “I think you have mold poisoning from your home.”

What? I had NO visible signs of mold anywhere!

But a couple weeks and two professional inspections later, 4″ of standing water was found below my master bedroom with mycotoxins floating thru the air 24/7. So the new doctor was spot on!

Remediation was pricey & time consuming. Happily, 7 months later, my home was mold free. Simultaneously, I had to eradicate mycotoxins that had lodged in my body. Easier said than done. I got only so far; then the alternative medical treatments I’d undergone stopped working.

What to do? The doctor advised I just “keep going.” But repeating the same action with zero results made no sense. As I’ve learned, one needs to keep leaning in, learning, asking for help. But where and with whom?

While updating a dear friend about the conundrum, another friend learned of potential care options in Mexico. Thru divine providence, the head of a clinic where he’d gone with a friend for dental work, walked into their elevator at the end of their first day there. She took one look at him, and insisted he let her call her friend so he could be seen THAT NIGHT! She called and arranged for that doctor to meet them a few hours later for his first treatment. He was thrilled; in only one session he experienced significant improvement.

Further medical details aren’t important. What is? That no matter what challenges we experience, staying centered on love & asking for guidance is key.

This October, three of us traveled across the border for care. Here’s the rest of that story.

This time, we were clear detoxification was central and it’s a common procedure in Mexico. Treatments are extensive but usually highly effective. The protocol isn’t allowed in the US. But it’s often considered the gold standard for resolving inflammation worldwide. Neither of our doctors spoke English, but the other gal who joined us speaks fluent Spanish. Her language skills were one of many unique gifts of Spirit experienced during that first trip.

When we arrived at the doctor’s office, I was a little nervous. I’d signed on for several days of back-to-back IVs. At home, I got weekly IVs. Good chance back-to-back sessions would be painful. The doctor checked my hands/arms for suitable veins. The worried expression on her face said everything. My veins are tiny.

Rather than pronouncing “Bad news,” she asked a candid question that set the stage for a far better outcome; one NEITHER of us had anticipated. She looked into my eyes and said, “Gloria, you have a VERY BIG SPIRIT but very tiny veins. You know this, right? I need to be calm before I proceed. I don’t want to poke you over and over to ‘find’ a vein that cooperates. Is it OK with you if I say a prayer and ask for calm?

Smiling, I replied, “Oh yes, please say a prayer. And while you do that, I’ll help by singing HU.”

And with the ease born from decades of trusting in the power of singing HU, I felt my body relax. As I sang, both my friends joined in.

Seconds later, the doctor exclaimed: “Gloria, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!? Several of your veins just “popped into view,” HOW DID YOU DO THAT?”

More questions, sighs of relief, and laughter followed:

“What is the HU?

Can anyone do it?

Does it work like this all the time??”

Suffice to say, that first session and the eight that followed were rich in heartfelt stories about love, God, and miracles. And minimal discomfort for my body.  Before each treatment, the doctor would say: “OK, everyone; let’s sing HU.”

Each of us relished the experience of singing HU. It filled the room and our hearts with joy, planting seeds for love and trust to grow.

The 2nd session, our doctors asked more questions. When they heard there was a Spanish HU app, their faces lit up. There’s a good chance the HU has become another way each is filling their “love cup” during their busy days.

That first night, once back at the hotel, the words of the poem below began “pouring into my heart.” The entire piece was finished a few hours before my 4th treatment. I read it aloud when we got to the office.

What’s the genesis of the title: “Laughter in her Veins”? It was a friendly reminder that there’s NO need to be afraid. I was in EXCELLENT hands. All I needed to do was relax, envision my veins opening, and laugh at the fear-knowing the doctors’ were doing their best to help me heal.

On day #8, my right hand (the one that had been the main port for the medication) was slightly sore. But considering how easily the veins had opened, the pain was minimal.

Soon I’ll return for a 2nd round of treatments, confident the HU and the kindness of the doctors who treated each of us will continue to bless us with laughter and love.

with gratitude & laughter,
Gloria

LAUGHTER IN HER VEINS

Life on earth is hard
Who said that and is it true?
The MIND says so…

Having a body
Sets us on a wild journey
Unpredictable

Soul writes its contract
With family, birthplace, gender
We choose how we’ll learn

We never come alone
An entire village agrees
to help us blossom

The hard shell of loss
or betrayal by others?
All designed to bless

Fantasy, you say?
Look closer… it’s far richer!
Like God, breath, joy, sight

We are guided by a power
Designed to help us realize
our true potential

No rescue needed
Remembering is KEY
We are sparks of God

Each designed to shine
To fall, to fail, and question
Questions lead us home

To ourselves, to love
Our destiny and purpose
Our joy sparked bright

Laughter fills these veins
It’s fluid, light & healing
OK-fill me up, I’m good to go!
