Our Lives are the Stuff of Miracles

Reading Time: 5 minutes

As humans in a dynamic world, we’re constantly reminded of our vulnerabilities. Everyone’s life has ups and downs. Yet Spirit’s presence remains. How is it that some feel connected while others don’t? For me, it depends on where I put my attention. Recently, I took myself to lunch. Suddenly, it struck me that doing such a thing a few years ago would have been too painful!

I wouldn’t have dared eat the Thai dish I was relishing. The spices in it were off limits! I slowed down, said a silent “thank you,” noticing how blessed I was to eat foods I enjoyed.

When my health issues began, I did everything I could to get well, including working with an acupuncturist and taking special herbs. Earnest requests for Spirit’s help went seemingly unanswered. The pain steadily worsened; things looked bleak. It seemed my system was too depleted to heal. After two years of medical care, my vitality continued to decline.

In mid-2022, my gastroenterologist referred me to a surgeon. Her attempts to help me get well had failed. Admittedly frustrated, she directed me to the “only option” she believed I had. I met with a colleague to discuss surgery. I was honestly scared of pursuing it.

During the consultation, I was told esophageal surgery was imperative. The only medical option: tightly squeeze that part of my body so future inflammation would cease. I was also told I’d likely experience worse pain in other areas of my body.

That day, I listened mutely as he pronounced “This is your only option; you will ultimately contract cancer which will surely cause death unless you take this step. It’s critical. Please sign this document first; then we’ll schedule you for surgery as soon as the schedule opens.

He calmly added this aside: “There’s a 50-50 chance of death during surgery.”

Did I hear that correctly?!?

Yes, there on the pre-surgery permission slip I read the SAME WORDS:

“Patient’s signature acknowledges a 50-50 chance of death during surgery and 25% pain reduction (at most) post-surgery.  Patient will suffer additional & irreversible pain in other areas of their body following this surgical intervention.”

I asked the doctor one question: “Would you perform this surgery on your wife, child, or a friend?”

He wouldn’t look me in the eye. I repeated the question 3 times; he chose not to reply or look at me.

So, I did what made sense to me.

I said, “I pass. I’m going to find a cure. I will recover.  All will be well.”

His summary of our meeting lives on in my medical records:

“Highly intelligent, self-motivated senior citizen refused treatment.  Doubt her prognosis will improve.”

A few months later, Spirit seamlessly arranged connections that led me to meet a naturopath who had another approach that ultimately helped me heal. Thorough, and on the same wavelength, she congratulated me for pursuing alternative care. Four weeks later, the first of 4 months of IV therapy was complete. I was on the mend.  Four months later, I was well! All pain gone. Gastroenterology scans confirmed I had healed; not even a sign of scar tissue remained.

How do miracles happen?

  • The HU
  • Steadfast reliance on one’s inner guidance
  • Fierce dedication to listening with an open mind and heart
  • And loving oneself through hard times

It just makes sense to me that we’re designed to thrive.

I’m a walking ‘billboard” for love in action. Training for mastership is a two-edged sword (one often ‘loses’ appendages you thought were necessary). The good news? Our “power of recognition, reconciliation, and renewal” encompasses more light than many imagine.

I’m in a HAPPY place. I realize one prognosis or opinion is just that. The notion there’s no alternative is a single viewpoint. I’m certain I live in a 5-D (spiritual) reality. From that perspective, occasional bouts of feeling powerless occur. I am Soul having a human experience. And when I sing HU and use my creative imagination, so-called immovable stuff changes. And, most Western doctors, though exquisitely trained to “practice medicine” miss the largess of God’s Divine plan.

Yep, another “Gloria story,” replicated by all who walk a path of love.

PostScript: 6 months after my meeting with “the surgeon,” I had a Zoom meeting with a senior level Gastroenterology doc at a teaching hospital.

By that time, I was well.

So, WHY did I decide to make it to that meeting?

I checked in with my inner guide asking; “should I meet with her?”

I felt a chuckle then heard: “Look @ her last name. She’s a link you may need/want one day.”

Her last name?  Diamond

Our Zoom call went splendidly.

What I learned:

1) Dr. Diamond’s teaching hospital no longer performs the surgery done at my hospital. They’ve deemed it “barbaric; too dangerous with minimal positive outcome.”

2) She proceeded to ask thoughtful questions including “How did you find the naturopath?” Her receptive inquiry and patient concern prompted a deeper response.

3) I explained how I work with the HU; a sacred mantra that helps me focus and connect with my intuition and guidance. She smiled, nodded, and confirmed in her experience, patients who take an active role in seeking alternatives often fare quite well.

4) She thanked me for keeping the appointment then said, “Gloria, if anything goes awry with current protocols, just know I’m now your “official Gastroenterologist.” I will work WITH your naturopath if/when you need Western medical assistance. For the next 5 years, I’m your go-to specialist.”

I continue to be grateful for how Spirit provides and connects us with the “Diamonds” in our world. I’m certain our lives are often the stuff of miracles.  Wouldn’t you agree?

Hi, Gloria! Thanks for sharing your story and the happy results of it! As a long time supporter of, believer in and active user of naturopathic practices, your sharing is very appreciated and could be most helpful to anyone/everyone who encounters the times of having to play “Who do you trust?” with their own life diagnosis. It’s always good to not only get second opinions but alternate solutions, treatments and options. Sharing what has worked for you is a bonus!
