One More Hill

In the mid 1960’s my family and I lived on a migrant hostel in South Australia. After spending eighteen months living there, my dad and mom began taking my sister and I to see the new family home getting built. I was seven years old and very excited at the thought of having my own bedroom.

Knowing I’d soon be moving away from my friends forever, I became inspired to take them on a long walk to see my new home. I didn’t realize at the time how an innocent journey of 10 miles would serve as a lifelong spiritual lesson.

In the summer of 2023, I had a memorable experience that was both frightening and uplifting. This took place a few days after my positive Covid test in the Marquis Newberg Rehab facility where I was undergoing treatment for my knee.

Outfoxing a Fox

I used to go running on a sheep trail along the river that ran in the valley behind the college I was attending. It was open countryside with no people or houses around, which is why I loved it.

One day I noticed a fox up ahead. She noticed me about the same time I noticed her. (Just guessing on the gender.)

Memories of Ancient Greece

Those who sing HU know this is a time of miracles. This is also a time of prophecy. What the ancients experienced in places like Delphi and Epidaurus in Greece, we can experience as well today. (Delphi Athena is pictured above.) It is HU that wakens us to the potential of Soul.

My wife, Denise, and I researched Greece ahead of our journey there so we knew the places that we wanted to visit. This was a spiritual quest as well as a vacation. Thus when we made “wrong” turns and ended up where we were planning to go but by different roads, meeting key people along the way, it was more than ok. It was the intended journey all along.

Messages from Memories: “Circus”

When we look back upon our memories, we often find gems of wisdom that we missed at the time of the initial experience. Messages from Memories fall into the category of Exotic Waking Dreams. A good example is “The Smile.” That memory carried its message through the corridors of time until I finally heard what it wanted to convey: “We can be happy under any circumstance.”

A poem entitled “Circus” held another special gem. Its messages are self-evident, but I will memorialize them in words at the conclusion of this post.

Maybe It’s All About “the Now”

When my niece was 6 years old, she lived with us on a pleasant street in the suburbs of Los Angeles. One of our neighbors, Wendy, was cordial and, from time to time, we would socialize amiably.

But, one day, she took me aside looking ashen and said, “I’ve never mentioned this before, but I have these kinds of half-dream-half-premonition experiences. I had one last night. I saw an earthquake, and your little niece was lying on the floor, unconscious, with that huge grandfather clock of yours crashed over on top of her. Please secure it somehow. And do it right away!”
