Psalm of the Wind

Reading Time: 2 minutes

By Michael Avery

It was during a time when I was contemplating on writing an article about becoming an inner warrior many years ago that the lines of this poem flowed through. I soon realized that even the first steps upon the path of the inner warrior would be difficult. Why? Because the first person we meet when we step out upon the path is ourselves.

Until we’ve come to terms with our past and have gained an understanding that there is no one “out there” to fight, it is best to concentrate on the baby steps leading up to the path. We can evaluate whether or not it is time to take that leap by answering a few pointed questions:

Do we love ourselves? Do we even like ourselves? What have we learned from facing adversity thus far? (More is surely to come once the Universe learns of our goal of becoming an inner warrior.) Have we gained the understanding necessary to see that everything coming our way is for our spiritual growth and accept it with grace and without blaming others?

“The Psalm of the Wind” expresses what a Master might relate to a student who expresses interest in becoming an inner warrior. Who amongst us dares take that first step upon the path? Or are we already on it and just don’t realize it?

PSALM OF THE WIND1

May your eye be keen
to find joy in every moment.

May your wings be strong,
for the journey is never-ending.

May your limitations be few,
for the time to follow has long since passed.

May your heart be filled with compassion
for those whose feet cling to the earth.

And may your Soul be free,
for an eagle answers only to the wind for direction.

That gave me spiritual goosebumps ! Nourishing a love for the greatest of things, well no things really, we soon discover is far greater than our shortcomings. We all have a higher self, we just need to recognize it.

Thank you for this beautiful Friday upliftment !
