Guest Post by Dennis Ernst
The game hadn’t gone well, and there was much frustration, some strong emotions, and tempers had flared. Even though we had played together for years, the air was fraught with tension.
Deep inside me, the presence of a master began to form. First came a loving warmth and soon I could feel his eyes sparkling clear through me, and there was just a touch of mischief too. Soon his words began to form in my mind: “There is no time for petty emotions and the drama of the ego when there is so much love to give.”
When there was a pause in the after-game chatter, I took a deep breath and said, “I really enjoy playing with all of you, and I would like to play another game and see if I can play a little better and a little kinder.”
It was dead still for a few moments, then the person that had been the most aggressive and outspoken said, “I would like that too.” There were a few sheepish grins as we got ready to play another round.
In a world that clamors for our attention and our energy, don’t forget that there is so much love to give.

Thank you, Dennis, for this inspiring reminder of the power we all have to choose love and kindness, even in challenging moments. The final line of your post serves as a beautiful mantra for daily life. In a world full of distractions and conflicts, remembering that there is “so much love to give” can indeed be a guiding light. It’s evidence of the fact that love and kindness can bridge divides and transform difficult situations into opportunities for growth and connection.
