“In Lak’ech Ala K’in,” often shortened to “In Lak’ech,” is a greeting derived from the Mayan philosophy of unity and the interconnectedness of all things. The phrase translates to “I am you, and you are me,” or “You are a reflection of myself.” Often the right hand is placed over the heart at this exchange.
The words that came through for this song are a reminder for me to see everyone I meet as their true self, Soul. When we are able to do this, we set aside our judgments about the other person’s appearance, personality flaws, beliefs, social position, etc. These superficialities serve as veils or barriers that keep love out.
Going about our day and inwardly greeting each person (or animal) we meet as a reflection of ourselves can be a powerful spiritual exercise. When we do, we are, to a small degree, loving as God loves.
From “We Meet On Sacred Ground (In Lak’ech)“
“Where the footpaths merge together,
our journeys intertwine.
Where the mountains greet the sky,
we meet again.
“Above the clouds, we see forever,
and recall what the elders said,
‘Every Soul looks through the same bright eyes;
everywhere is sacred ground.’”

In Lak’ech, dear friend, I greet you as myself. Michael

This song is powerful. The first time I listened to and watched it, it brought tears to my eyes. I’ve shared it with some of my friends, who were equally moved.

Thanks so much for your comments, Gloria and Paula. Lots of emotions behind the curtain of the mind for me, too. And thank you for sharing the video with friends.
