Reading Time: 2 minutes

When we experience unusual events in our life, often there is a hidden message. It’s up to us to discover the gem within it.

Recently, the plastic handle area on our dishwasher split on either side of the handle. Whenever we would open the dishwasher, the plastic split worsened. It would pinch our fingers as we opened the dishwasher.

For two weeks prior, I had driven by a couple of stores that sold thin latex gloves. Gloves were on my list, but I failed to stop, telling myself I would buy them later should a need arise.

One morning, I approached the dishwasher with a new tube of Super glue. The back surface area where the handle is located had come loose and now opening the dishwasher was even more challenging. A little Super glue should reattach the back plastic part of the handle, I reasoned.

This is where the rubber gloves would have been helpful. Spreading a generous portion of glue on the plate, I fumbled to get it aligned behind the handle. To my dismay, the Super glue didn’t dry quick enough for me to remove my fingers that were holding it in position. The glue did however, work extremely well on my thumb and fingers.

Using some nail polish remover, Oi and I did get most of the glue removed, but a thin, slick layer of glue reminded me for a few days that “a little protection” would have been wise.

Cognizant of what was also going on in my life, I soon realized that the uncommon event of gluing my fingers and thumb together applied to another facet of my life. It was time to renew our website and, to save money, I had decided to eliminate the site protection feature that added well over a hundred dollars to the service..

Remembering a problem I’d had with a previous website, I tossed and turned throughout the night. Around five a.m., it hit me. I understood what the uncommon event with the Super glue was telling me symbolically: I needed protection. Wasting no time, I immediately called the web management company and added the site protection back in.
